On April 14, 1952, in Oakland, MD, Harry married the love of his life, Christine Hyer. Their union lasted for an impressive 71 years, a testament to the strength of their bond and commitment to each other. Together, they created a family grounded in love, with daughters Linda Deaton and Rebecca Furbee. Harry’s role as a father and grandfather, affectionately known as “Papaw,” was marked by warmth, guidance, and a profound love for his family.

He continued his academic pursuits at Alderson Broaddus College, earning a BA, and later achieved his MA at West Virginia University. His career as a basketball, baseball, and football coach spanned various high schools, including Stanley HS, VA, Tanner HS, and Glenville HS, WV, as well as River High School, Hannibal, OH.

An independent oil and gas developer, he displayed a remarkable ability to balance his professional pursuits.
